Max Creek, 40th Anniversary, Sullivan Hall, NYC

Max Creek turns 40 years old this year and celebrated their anniversary with a stop at Sullivan Hall in New York City’s Greenwich Village, 4/29/11. The previous night found the band at the Old Well in Simsbury, CT, bringing out former crew and band members to the stage. Creek brought a similarly packed house full of good vibes to New York City, their first time back in nine years. Was their last show at Tobacco Road? According to fans the memory is a little “hazy.” Throughout the two long sets fans were treated to old and new songs. For newbies like myself, the “Jones” opener was familiar (I came to Max Creek through Scott Murawski who also plays guitar and this song with Mike Gordon’s band). Closing out the first set, this “Windows” jam absolutely SMOKES and has the entire club rocking!! Max Creek plays tonight at the Met cafe in Pawtucket, RI. If you’re starting to plan your summer festival schedule (see you at Mountain Jam!!) don’t miss Max Creek’s own festival, Camp Creek, August 5-7, 2011 in Oxford, Maine.Β
